Who We Are
Calcgator (calcgator.com) is a free online calculator platform offering tools for kitchen, home, health, and finance calculations. We're an independent project with a simple goal: build useful, honest, free tools for everyday decisions.
When this policy says "we", "us", or "Calcgator", we're referring to the team behind calcgator.com. When it says "you" or "user", we mean you — anyone who visits or uses our website.
What Information We Collect
We collect very limited, non-personal information — and only to understand how the site is being used so we can improve it. Here's what that actually means:
Anonymous Usage Analytics
Like most websites, Calcgator uses analytics tools to understand general traffic patterns. This may include:
- Which pages and calculators are visited
- How long users spend on the site (in aggregate)
- Which country or region visitors are from (country-level only, not city or address)
- What device type, browser, and operating system was used
- How users found the site (e.g., search engine, direct visit)
None of this data identifies you personally. We see things like "500 visitors used the AC cost calculator on Tuesday, 60% were on mobile" — not who those visitors were.
Input Data You Enter into Calculators
When you enter numbers into our calculators — like your room size, electricity rate, or weight — that data is processed entirely in your browser. It is not sent to our servers. We never see it, store it, or log it. The moment you close the tab, it's gone.
Contact & Feedback Messages
If you use a contact form, feedback form, or "Suggest a Tool" feature to get in touch with us, we receive the content of your message and any contact information you voluntarily provide (such as an email address). We use this only to respond to you.
What We Don't Collect
We think it's important to be explicit about this, because a lot of sites do collect these things. We don't:
- No names or email addresses — unless you send them to us voluntarily via a contact form
- No account or login data — Calcgator has no user accounts
- No payment information — everything is free; no payments are ever processed
- No location data — we don't ask for or access your GPS or precise location
- No health or financial data — the numbers you enter in calculators are never stored
- No behavioural profiles — we don't build or sell profiles about individual users
- No cross-site tracking — we don't follow you around the internet
Cookies & Local Storage
Cookies are small text files that websites can store on your device. Here's how Calcgator uses them:
Essential Cookies
Some features, like remembering your dark/light mode preference or saving a recent calculation history (where available), may use your browser's local storage. These are stored entirely on your own device and are never sent to our servers.
Analytics Cookies
We may use a minimal, privacy-respecting analytics service (such as Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled) to understand aggregate traffic. These cookies don't identify you personally and collect only the anonymous data described in Section 2.
Managing Cookies
You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings at any time. This won't affect your ability to use Calcgator's calculators, though some preference features (like dark mode memory) may not persist.
Third-Party Services
To keep Calcgator running, we use a small number of third-party services. Each has its own privacy practices:
- Hosting & CDN: Our site is served through a web hosting provider and content delivery network. They may log standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, page requested) for security purposes. This is standard practice for any website.
- Google Fonts: We load fonts from Google's servers. This means Google's servers receive a request from your browser when you visit our pages. Google may log this. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
- Analytics (if applicable): We may use privacy-focused analytics. Any tool we use is configured to anonymise IP addresses and not share individual user data with us.
We do not embed social media tracking pixels, affiliate tracking scripts, or any third-party advertising technology on Calcgator.
How We Share (or Don't Share) Your Data
We do not sell your data. Full stop.
We don't share personal information with advertisers, data brokers, marketing companies, or any third party for commercial gain. The only limited situations where we might share information are:
- Legal requirements: If we are required by law, court order, or legal process to disclose information, we would comply — but we hold so little personal data that there would be very little to disclose.
- Service providers: The hosting and infrastructure providers we use technically process request data on our behalf, but only to the extent necessary to serve the website. They are not permitted to use that data for their own purposes.
Children's Privacy
Calcgator is a general-purpose calculator platform suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since we don't collect personal data from anyone, there are no special child-specific risks with our service.
If you believe a child has somehow submitted personal information through our site (for example, via a contact form), please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Your Rights
Depending on where you're located, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. Because we collect so little identifiable information, exercising most of these rights against Calcgator would have very little practical effect — but they're yours regardless:
- Right to access: You can ask what data we hold about you
- Right to deletion: You can ask us to delete any data we hold about you
- Right to correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Right to object: You can object to certain types of processing
To exercise any of these rights, just contact us. Because we hold almost no personal data, most requests will be resolved immediately.
If you're in the EU or UK, you're also protected by GDPR. If you're in California, you're covered by CCPA. We comply with applicable data protection laws in the regions where we operate.
Changes to This Policy
We'll update this page if our privacy practices change. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. If the changes are significant, we may also add a notice on the Calcgator homepage.
We'd encourage you to revisit this page occasionally, but honestly — we're a free calculator site with no accounts and no costs. Our privacy practices are unlikely to change dramatically.
